Common questions
When do I actually need the CRUE?
Legally after 90 days in the country. Practically, it becomes your proof of legal residence for the bank, NISS, and the health centre, so don't sit on it.
Where do I get it?
Your câmara municipal (city hall), around €15, often issued on the spot.
What do I need to show?
ID, plus a declaration or proof that you work, study, or can support yourself. Requirements vary slightly between câmaras, check yours first.
